What Rainbow Journeys is all about
The landscape around this area of Mayo contains many ancient sites that have stood for thousands of years as a testament to the lives of our ancestors.
They offer information about how our ancestors lived and died. Their reverence and knowledge of the natural world as evidenced through the sacred sites is astounding.
The Boheh stone, the Glebe Stone Circle, the Srahwee Wedge Tomb and the Killadangan megalithic site are all in the surrounds of the sacred mountain Croagh Patrick or as the ancients named it Cruacham Aigle (Eagle Mountain).
Visiting these sites provides us with insight and connection to our ancestors. It is a privilege to learn about our ancestors through the incredible structures they left behind teaching us their ways.
This knowledge helps us connect to our ancestors creating a sense of belonging to the land that lies deep in our being.
On visiting these sites we will honour our ancestors and embrace ourselves as part of a lineage of humans living on these lands that support us.
The sea is at the foot of the mountain.
The Wild Atlantic in its many shades of blue and grey surrounds the landscape around Mayo.
It is an ever changing landscape in itself. Forever moving as it ebbs and flows. To enter these waters offers deep connection to the ocean and to ourselves.
The feeling of well being that one experiences after a dip in the Atlantic is partly due to the sea and its healing properties, the other people that you share the experience with and your own Spirit.
It can be wildly exhilarating and calming, it builds resilience in the mind and body, it offers joy and connection with the wildness inside all of us that we share with the Sea.
Come meet Manannan Mac Lir the God of Wave and Wonder.
The Irish Shamanic practices are old ancient traditions of connecting with the earth, the ancestors, all creatures, the elements, other worlds, our fellow humans and ourselves to invoke healing and learning.
To live in tune with all that surrounds us and to live the Beauty way.
The practices include Journeying, Divining, using sound and invocation to heal, rituals that develop connection to the land and to all that is around us, such as fire ceremonies, hawthorn tea ceremonies. These practices invoke a deep connection with all that is around us, seen and unseen, it facilitates healing and shows us the beauty way of living on this planet.
Shamanism is a way of life, a way of looking at the world with deep listening, respect, awe, gratitude and reverence to and for all that surrounds us.
The Shamans Journey allows us to venture into the worlds all around us that holds the ancestors and the wisdom of the realms.
As part of the experience here at Rainbow Journeys we journey using the drum to transport us to other places to seek knowledge, to receive guidance ,to ask questions and to receive gifts. A special favourite is to journey to visit our ancestors on the island of the ancestors.
We use an old Irish traditional way of journeying called Immramma, literally voyage by sea to visit the Lowerworld.
Once on the island of the ancestors we connect and learn from all that is there for us as individuals. It is a powerful and beautiful journey.
Movement is so important for our bodies and for the way we feel. It helps us connect with ourselves and all in the physical world.
Deep connection with ourselves allows us to hear our intuition, to listen to the messages that the world both seen and unseen are giving us.
Movement at Rainbow Journeys can be a walk in the forest or on the sea shore, swimming in the sea, dancing, gentle yoga, or any other practice that you love.
I love a practice called Qoya which is a movement practice birthed to the world by Rochelle Schieck. (www.qoya.love)
QOYA is a movement class based on the idea that through movement we Remember.
We Remember our Essence is Wise, Wild and Free.
Wise calls on the wisdom of yoga. Wild is the creative expression in dance and Free is expanding our capacity to enjoy being in our bodies through feminine movement.
This class is easy to follow, requires no previous experience and you know you are doing it right if it feels good in your body. Simple as that.
